A burger with tons of flavor that stays together excellently while cooking. These are always easy and fun to make and something you can feel good about eating! Why are cheeseburgers so delicious!?! The best comfort food a little lighter because of the lettuce! Lettuce is so good for you especially Romaine. It has rich vitamins and nutrients that are so good for your skin. Eating more of it will instantly help you notice a difference in the quality of your skin.
Eat with a side of my Wedge Home Fries or your favorite chips or side! Cooking on the grill is so nice especially on hot days when you don’t want to turn your hot oven on inside. The grill just smells good and wreaks of summer time!!! Who doesn’t want food fresh off the grill?
Cheeseburger Lettuce Wraps (Gluten-free)
Ingredients
Hamburger Patties:
- ⅓ onion, chopped
- 3 lbs ground beef *leaner the better (10% fat or less); (see notes below)
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup gluten-free bread crumbs
- 2 TBSP flaxseed meal
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- lettuce romaine, butter, bib, iceburg
Toppings:
- 8 slices cheese such as cheddar, american, or colby (choose your favorite)
- tomato
- mustard
- avocado
- ketchup
- Mayonnaise
Instructions
- Heat a pan to medium heat, and place a tablespoon of olive oil in the pan. Place chopped onions in the pan and cook until tender.
- Heat grill (or skillet) on medium heat
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, gluten-free bread crumbs, flax seed meal, garlic powder, and salt until combined well (use hands to really incorporate ingredients into the meat).
- Divide mixture into 8-10 sections then roll each into a ball. Press each ball down to flatten into a patties.
- Grease grill grates to prevent patties from sticking and place patties on the grill. Cook for approximately 4 minutes on each side or until cooked to your preference.
- When burgers are almost done and cooking on last side, place a slice of cheese on each burger, and turn off heat. Close grill for approximately 2 minutes more, or until cheese melts.
- Transfer burgers to a plate and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Place each burger on a large lettuce leaf. Top with your favorite condiments, one slice of tomato on each patty and whatever other ingredients you like.
- Wrap the lettuce up over the top of burger and serve immediately.
