Delicious melted swiss cheese, and garlicky butter mushrooms, over a juicy homemade hamburger patty!
Jump to RecipeMy two oldest kids (6 and 3 years) actually helped me with this recipe. They enjoy cooking in the kitchen with me, as much as possible. They cut up the mushrooms, for the hamburger, and the watermelon (that we had on the side). They did an awesome job. Sometimes it is really hard to have the kids in the kitchen, but they really love it, and if I can get them to learn early to be in the kitchen I think that is a valuable time for us to spend together and valuable lessons for them to have for life. I didn’t really challenge myself in the kitchen growing up, therefore I didn’t learn to cook until I got married. I want my babies to eat well in college and to know they have some choices! 😜 And eventually maybe even make meals before they leave the house. I would be all about that!
The whole family scarfed these down. They were perfect! We love mushrooms, and this was a good one. Mushrooms are so good for you, too, so that is a plus! Also, these are definitely MAN PLEASING burgers, if that is what you are looking for. The bacon, cheese, and A.1. sauce makes them great. I hope you love them as we did!
The Best Swiss Mushroom Burger
Ingredients
- 2 Ibs hamburger, ground
- 8 slices bacon your favorite
- 2 slices cheese (provolone, cheddar or other), broken up into small pieces
- 3 TBSP A.1. sauce
- 1 TBSP garlic minced
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 slices swiss cheese
For the Mushrooms:
- 2 TBSP olive oil
- 2 pints baby bella mushrooms sliced
- 2 TBSP chicken broth
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese shredded
- salt to taste
- 3 green onions
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment, or wax paper and set aside.
- Heat the grill to medium-low heat.
- To prepare the hamburgers, place the ground hamburger, bacon pieces, cheese bits, A.1. Sauce, garlic, egg, bread crumbs, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. Mix using your hands until all ingredients are well combined.
- Form meat into patties, and place on the cookie sheet, to go to the grill.
- While the burgers are cooking on the grill, pour the olive oil into a pan on the stove, and heat to medium. When the pan is hot, add the garlic until gragrant about 2 minutes.
- To prepare the mushrooms, first wipe any dirt off mushrooms using a dry paper towel. Decap and slice up mushrooms, add to the pan, and cook until tender.
- Stir in sliced green onions, stir remove from heat, and set aside.
- When hamburgers are just about done, add a slice of swiss cheese on top of each patty, and close the grill lid until cheese melts, about 2 minutes.
- Place patties with cheese on a hamburger bun, top with a heaping spoonful of mushrooms.
- Top with additional green onions and serve hot!
